Snowy Nights

Bill Wolfe, 1/28/2009 8:09:00 PM
The one thing I love about the snow is when it snows at night. Last night I woke up at 2am and got out of bed and looked outside. It was absolutely beautiful. The snow was coming down and it looked like daytime. You know what I mean? It actually looked light outside. It's probably the way the street lights and house lights reflect off of the snow, but I love the way that looks. I eventually went back to bed, but I had to just stop and stare for a few minutes.

Needs vs Luxuries

Bill Wolfe, 1/27/2009 1:50:00 PM

Feeling challenged today from a post by Matt.   Stop and think about it...How many of your "needs" are really just luxuries that have escalated in your mind to the status of "need".   If you're like me, my guess is a lot.

My family has been going down to Brookside Community Church now for several months to help prepare and serve a Sunday morning breakfast.  This past Sunday the coffee machine seemed to be running slow, so it was taking a while to brew coffee.    I was working as fast as I could, but I could hear rumblings from the crowd about really wanting some hot coffee.   Now, I was thinking to myself "I'm working on it, be patient, relax" and I was starting to get frustrated.    But then God smacked me around and said:

"These are my children and they are freezing.   Some don't have homes, and others don't have heat.   You have no right getting upset because they need some hot coffee to help them warm up.  Look at the things you tell Me you "need":   more money, more clients, more vacations, more times to eat out, more blessings.   You are blessed.  Just serve them as best as you can with all of your heart."

Ouch, that really hit me hard.    All of these luxuries we take for granted while there are many that don't have the simplest of needs like a warm bed or a hot cup of coffee.  Think about it.

Go Vote

Bill Wolfe, 1/27/2009 11:00:00 AM

NBC is taking a poll on "In God We Trust" to stay on our American currency.  At first I thought "Are you for real?", but I guess it is.

If you care, go vote here:

Wii Fit

Bill Wolfe, 1/23/2009 9:09:00 PM

I'm having a blast playing with the Wii Fit.  Santa brought Camden a Wii for Christmas and we are having fun with it.  I'm thinking of trying to use the Wii Fit solely for a month and see how I feel.   I'm a little concerned I might get bored after a week or so, but we'll see.

I like the "Body Test" feature of it.   It's given me a Wii Fit age of 35.  I'm 36 (almost 37), so I'll take that!   The BMI measurement is interesting too.  It's telling me my BMI is 24.88.  I don't know too much about BMI, but according to the Wii, I'm on the edge of normal and overweight.   It's telling me that my BMI should be 22 for a healthy range.   I'll give it a shot and see if I can do it.   It's telling me I have to lose 15 pounds which seems like a lot.

Do you have a Wii Fit?  How do you like it?  What's your favorite exercise?  I love the hula hoops!

BTW, I'm listening to my favorite worship song (still) as I write this :)
